Tour de North Texas II

When: October 30, 2010 1:00pm

Where: 1907 Oak St. Denton, Texas

What: have a bike to ride and at least one canned good to donate, wear your Halloween costume, optional byob

I am so excited to participate in the second Tour de North Texas bicycle rally, or Tour de Norte as I like to call it, I have been looking forward to the next one ever since I rode in the first rally. All you need is a bike, one canned good for the food drive, and, if you would like, a back pack of beer. The ride is open to everyone who wishes to participate.

The way it works is everyone meets up and brings their can food donations to 1907 Oak st. Denton, Texas and we take off on bikes to different pit stops around Denton where we will hang out and party for 30-45 minutes before we ride on to the next location. This goes on until the sun goes down and there is an after party at the starting point so there is no need to worry about getting back to your car, although if you are planning on partaking in adult beverages it is recommended to have a safe ride home.

This time will be even more fun because it will be a costumed ride so everyone will be wearing their best Halloween costumes while we ride through Denton. I am hoping to get even more people to join the ride this time around and we are expecting any where from 60-80 participants. It is a great way to meet people you may never have had the chance to otherwise in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. So, singles this is a great event where you can mingle. The more the merrier though, so couples and other small or large groups of friends are of course welcome as well.

I hadn’t ridden a bike in about 10 years before the last tour but what they say is true, you never forget how to ride a bike. I had a blast hopping up and down curbs and feeling the wind in my hair. There is no need to be a great bike rider, or in great shape because the rides are leisurely and because there will be plenty of pit stops, each ride is fairly short.

Members take a break to participate in a fun game of hacky sack.

My favorite memory from the last tour is when people joined the race just because they saw us ride by their house. I also loved that at each stop there was something fun going on like hackie sac, or an impromptu broom hurdling competition. I highly encourage everyone to come out and ride. I guarantee you will have a great time.
